This half-day Khao Lak highlights tour combines local history, culture, conservation, nature, and responsible elephant observation in one easy experience.
Visit the International Tsunami Museum and Navy Ship 813 to learn about the 2004 tsunami and Khao Lak’s recovery. Continue to Lak Kaen Temple for a peaceful cultural stop, then visit the Sea Turtle Conservation Center to learn about local efforts to care for young and injured turtles.
The tour also includes a visit to Khaolak Elephant Sanctuary, where guests can learn about rescued elephants and observe their natural behavior in a respectful, animal-welfare-focused setting. There is no elephant riding, no shows, no tricks, no forced bathing, and no activities that disturb the elephants.
