Heritage & Film History: Discover Kazimierz, the former ghetto and Plaszow on our Schindler's List Tour with a Dutch guide. Krakow, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978, is rich in history from Nazi occupation to Soviet control. Explore the most important locations and film sets of Schindler's List with us. We visit Plaszow concentration camp, including the memorial, film props and the commandant's villa. Our guide will share behind-the-scenes film insights. Afterwards, we will walk to Schindler's Factory and see part of the original ghetto wall. Crossing Plac Bohutera, the old ghetto entrance, we will explore the Jewish district of Kazimierz, where much of the film was shot. After about 4 hours, we say goodbye in Kazimierz. Itinerary

Stop 1

We leave by tram to Płaszów.

Stop 2

We will take a look at the 'Red House,' the villa of Commander Amon Goeth.

Stop 3

The Grey House in Plaszów is a striking building within the former concentration camp, known for its austere and somber appearance, reflecting the grim history of the camp.

Stop 4

Plaszów was a Nazi concentration camp near Kraków during World War II. We explore the remains of the camp, including the foundations of barracks, some preserved structures and several memorials. The site serves as a poignant reminder of the atrocities committed there.

Stop 5

We visit the Liban Quarry, where you can still see set pieces from the film Schindler's List.

Stop 6

We pass a fragment of the Ghetto Wall.

Heroes' Square, or Plac Bohaterów, is a prominent and historic public space in Kraków. Located in the heart of the city, it is an important location that commemorates the heroes of World War II and various important historical events. The square is often noted for its impressive monuments and statues that pay tribute to those who fought for freedom and justice. It serves as a central place for both locals and visitors to reflect on Kraków's rich and complex history.

Stop 8

We will pass by Schindler's factory. Our guide will give some information about it. You can visit the factory, which is now a museum, later on your own if you wish. Tickets cost around €8.50 and can be purchased via the museum's official website.

Stop 9

The famous courtyard from Schindler's List is located in the former Jewish quarter of Kraków. This picturesque spot became famous as a filming location for the movie and is known for its historical charm and significance. The courtyard captures the essence of that time and provides a tangible connection to the events depicted in the film.

Stop 10

The Remuh Synagogue, located in the historic Jewish Quarter of Kraków, is one of the oldest synagogues in Poland, built in 1553.

Stop 11

We end our tour at Plac Nowy. You can explore the area on your own and visit sites like the Remuh Synagogue or Schindler's Factory, or join us for a cold drink at DutchPoint Kraków.
