Upper Dolpo Trek
Overview
Upper Dolpo Trek The Upper Dolpo Trek is a remote and strenuous trek in northwest Nepal that takes trekkers through the rugged and remote regions of Dolpo and Shey-Phoksundo National Park. The trek is considered one of the most challenging treks in Nepal and typically takes around 20-25 days to complete. The trek starts in Juphal and takes trekkers through remote villages, past crystal clear lakes and over high passes, providing spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Along the way, trekkers will also have the opportunity to visit ancient monasteries, meet local people and experience the unique culture of the Dolpo region. The trek is considered challenging due to the altitude, rugged terrain, and the long days of hiking. It also requires a special permit from the government of Nepal, which is not easy to obtain. The trek is also considered remote and less-trodden, so the trail may not be well-maintained.
