You will start your tour in front of the Cathedral, also known as the imperial cathedral of St. Peter and St. George. According to a local legend, the bishop refused to give the citizens of Bamberg the land they needed to build their Town Hall, so the people started throwing stakes and logs in the river Regnitz, creating in this way a small artificial island, on which they built their Town Hall.
