Panagyurishte and Koprivstitsa: One day from Sofia
Overview
Sredna Gora is a mountain range in the main center of Bulgaria. The mountain is rich with copper ores and gold mines, that’s the people came and started living in the 4-th millennium B.C. In this trip, you’ll see the gold of Thracians, megalithic sanctuaries from the Copper age and how Bulgarians fought for their freedom and independence.

Itinerary
1
Stop 1
We’ll stop in that town to see the old houses and the treasury of the Thracians. Free time in the main center of the town.

Stop 2
The town Strelcha is known for its participation in the April Uprising in 1876 with its own fuel and mineral springs and as one of the biggest centers of rose production in Bulgaria. We’ll stop some kilometers after the town to see a big megalithic complex. Walking around the stones – 1 hour.

Stop 3
A lot of famous Bulgarians were born here – Bulgarians that they changed history. The biggest uprising against the Ottoman empire started from here, a final step to the dreams of Bulgarians – the freedom. We’ll see some of the houses, very well preserved from the 19th century, and the Runny rocks, where is the monument of Benkovski, one of the commanders of the April uprising.
