As a result, the guide will provide an explanation of the Sistine Chapel's significance and its artwork while the group is in the queue to enter the Vatican Museums. The guide will still accompany you inside the Sistine Chapel, but no further commentary can be given once inside.
• During Sede Vacante, the Sistine Chapel may close without prior notice for the Papal Conclave. Access is not guaranteed, and no refunds will be provided for such closures.
• Restoration work on Michelangelo’s The Last Judgment will take place in 2026. The Sistine Chapel will remain open, but scaffolding may partially or fully obstruct the altar wall. No refunds are issued for restoration work, scaffolding, or unannounced closures by the Vatican.
