What makes Private Normandy Tour DDAY Beaches from Paris a unique experience ?

After a 3 hour transfer from Paris, we will arrive at Omaha Beach where your guide will explain in details the landing of the American soldiers on DDay, with a comprehensive visit of both the beach and the American Cemetery right above on the bluff. This will also take you to the famous cliffs of Pointe du Hoc where the American Rangers faced formidable German defenses and a drastic terrain. The duration of the visit for these sites is 4 hours. INCLUDES OMAHA BEACH - THE AMERICAN CEMETERY AND POINTE DU HOC

The cemetery site, at the north end of its half mile access road, covers 172.5 acres and contains the graves of 9,389 of our military dead, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings and ensuing operations. On the Walls of the Missing, in a semicircular garden on the east side of the memorial, are inscribed 1,557 names. Rosettes mark the names of those since recovered and identified.

By mid-1944, German forces manned formidable defenses along the French coast. Of concern to the Allies were German 155mm artillery positions on Pointe du Hoc. They could wreak havoc on Utah and Omaha Beaches. Visit this emblematic site.

The port was meant to be temporary, lasting maybe three months. It served for some five months. The Mulberry Harbour in Arromanches-les-Bains became known as Port Winston, after British wartime leader Winston Churchill, who was closely involved in its conception. A staggering 2.5 million men, 500,000 vehicles and four million tonnes of supplies arrived via Port Winston. Despite all its somber reminders of the shattering war effort, Arromanches has a good deal of charm, offering wonderful beach and cliff walks. Wandering around the town, you can also spot some intriguing memorials. After this last site we will return to Paris, the transfer will take 2,5 to 3 hours depending on traffic, and is included in the duration of this visit.
