Burford is often called the “Gateway to the Cotswolds” and is one of the most charming small towns in the region. Its beautiful medieval high street slopes gently down toward the River Windrush and is lined with honey-coloured stone buildings that date back hundreds of years. You’ll have time to stroll through the town, browse traditional shops and antiques stores, visit the impressive 15th-century St John the Baptist Church, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this historic market town before continuing deeper into the Cotswolds.

Stop 2
Bibury is widely considered one of the most beautiful villages in England and is famous for its picture-perfect stone cottages along Arlington Row. Dating back to the 14th century, these historic weavers’ cottages sit beside a gentle stream and create one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswolds. You’ll have time to wander along the river, take photos of the iconic cottages, and enjoy the peaceful countryside setting that has inspired artists and photographers for generations.

Castle Combe is often described as one of the most beautiful villages in England. With its honey-coloured stone cottages, quiet village green, and charming stone bridge over the Bybrook River, the village feels almost untouched by time. You’ll have time to wander the peaceful streets, admire the historic cottages, and take photos of the picturesque scenery that has made Castle Combe a favourite filming location for movies and television. It’s a perfect place to slow down and experience the timeless charm of the Cotswolds countryside.

Tetbury is a historic Cotswold market town known for its elegant architecture, independent shops, and strong royal connections. Once an important centre for the wool trade, its charming streets are now home to a wonderful mix of antiques shops, boutiques, cafés, and traditional pubs. You’ll have time to explore the town at your own pace, stroll past the striking Market House in the centre of the square, and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of one of the Cotswolds’ most characterful towns. Tetbury is also close to Highgrove, the private residence of King Charles III.

Painswick is often known as the “Queen of the Cotswolds” and is one of the most elegant and peaceful villages in the region. With its beautifully preserved stone houses, narrow winding streets, and stunning hilltop views, it offers a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere for an overnight stay. In the evening you can enjoy a quiet stroll through the village, visit the historic churchyard of St Mary’s with its famous yew trees, or relax with dinner at one of the excellent local pubs or restaurants. Staying overnight in Painswick allows you to experience the Cotswolds after the day visitors have gone, when the village becomes especially calm and atmospheric.

You’ll have time to enjoy a relaxed morning stroll through the village, browse the charming shops, and perhaps stop for a coffee or breakfast before continuing the day’s journey through the Cotswolds. The peaceful atmosphere and stunning architecture make Broadway a perfect start to the morning.

Snowshill is a small, unspoilt Cotswold village tucked away among rolling hills and quiet country lanes. Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the highest and most historic towns in the Cotswolds, famous for its large market square surrounded by traditional stone buildings, antique shops, and welcoming pubs. Once an important centre for the medieval wool trade, the town still retains a wonderful sense of history and character. You’ll have time to explore the charming streets, browse independent shops and galleries, and visit the beautiful St Edward’s Church, whose ancient yew-tree framed doorway is one of the most photographed spots in the Cotswolds.

Upper Slaughter is one of the most peaceful and unspoilt villages in the Cotswolds. With its traditional stone cottages, quiet lanes, and the gentle River Eye flowing through the village, it offers a wonderfully calm countryside atmosphere. You’ll have time to enjoy a relaxed stroll through the village and along the riverbank, taking in the beautiful scenery. For those who enjoy walking, there is also the option to take a short countryside walk between Upper and Lower Slaughter, one of the most scenic and tranquil paths in the Cotswolds.
