Itinerary

Stop 1

We will meet across the street from the train station. We'll discuss logistics a bit, and then proceed.

Stop 2

This plaza is a great place to relax on the banks of the River Aare. We can stop by for refreshments, or watch the surfers in the water (Thun is one of the few places in Europe where it is possible to surf).

Stop 3

We'll wander the historical old town, including the Obere Hauptgasse with its raised pavements and beautiful shops.

Stop 4

The old town hall is the heart of Thun’s historical centre. We'll be taking photos of the plaza, as well as the castle and church (there's a nice view from here).

Stop 5

We'll be climbing up to Thun Castle, and taking photos of the beautiful city panorama from the shadow of this medieval fortress. (If we have group members with special mobility needs, we will take the elevator instead of the stairs).

Stop 6

We'll be strolling next to the beautiful old church on the Schlossberg, and you'll find some of the hidden spots to take panoramic views of the city and the river Aare.

Stop 7

We'll pass by the river and the old wooden bridges. If we're lucky, we might see the surfers on the river. We'll have a beautiful view of the river banks to photograph from here.

Stop 8

Will stroll along the river on the Brahms-Quai, admiring Castle Schadau across the river. Depending on the time, we might also see the ferry pass us by.

Stop 9

We will return to the train station via Scherzligschleuse. This is one of the old wooden bridges that houses the sluice gates for the river. Here you can practice low-light photography and produce images with a darker look.

Stop 10

We will end our tour where we started, across the street from the train station.
