Scenic Trails of Sete Cidades: Half-Day Jeep Adventure

Sete Cidades Lagoon, located on the breathtaking island of São Miguel, is one of the most iconic landmarks in the Azores Archipelago—and it’s easy to see why. This is the largest freshwater lake in the Azores, nestled within volcanic craters that shape the island’s unique landscape. This small, neo-Gothic church, built in the 19th century, is flanked by an impressive collection of cryptomeria trees that line both sides of the path leading to its entrance.

On this tour, we’ll journey along the scenic dirt trail ascending to the summit of Pico da Cruz at 856 meters, where you’ll enjoy stunning views of several lagoons, including the iconic Lagoa das Sete Cidades, the Green and Blue Lagoons, Rasa Lagoon, and Santiago Lagoon. As we continue along the caldera’s ridge, surrounded by magnificent landscapes, we’ll make several stops—one of them at the Miradouro das Cumeeiras, where we’ll take in sweeping views of the entire Sete Cidades caldera, its lagoons, and the village below.
