The Ponte D. Luís I is an iconic bridge located in the city of Porto, Portugal, which crosses the Douro River, connecting the city of Porto to the city of Vila Nova de Gaia. Designed by the Belgian engineer Théophile Seyrig, who was a disciple of Gustave Eiffel, the bridge was inaugurated in 1886 and is one of the main symbols of the city of Porto.
