Itinerary

1
Stop 1
Geraldine will be our first stop after departing Christchurch, where we’ll take a short refreshment break for coffee and restroom facilities.
2
Stop 2
Fairlie is a small town in New Zealand’s South Island and a popular gateway for travelers on their way to Mount Cook. It is also home to the famous Fairlie Bakehouse, one of the country’s most well-known bakeries.
3
Stop 3
Lake Tekapo is one of the most picturesque destinations in the heart of New Zealand’s South Island. Famous for its striking turquoise waters and dramatic alpine scenery, it is a favorite spot for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Top things to do in Tekapo include visiting the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd, taking photos at the Sheepdog Memorial, relaxing in the Tekapo Springs, and stargazing in the renowned Dark Sky Reserve.
4
Stop 4
Lake Pukaki is another breathtaking glacial lake, renowned for its vivid turquoise waters and sweeping panoramic views. It is a popular spot for scenic drives and photography, thanks to its close proximity to Aoraki/Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak. The lake’s striking blue color comes from fine silt particles, known as glacial flour, suspended in the water, creating truly spectacular views of Mount Cook.
5
Stop 5
At your final destination, enjoy lunch at a beautifully located hotel offering spectacular views. The hotel is perfectly positioned to provide outstanding vistas of the Mount Cook glaciers. Aoraki/Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain, played a key role in helping Sir Edmund Hillary develop his climbing skills before his historic ascent of Mount Everest. Please note that the Mueller Hut Route is temporarily closed to day walkers; however, guests with overnight bookings at Mueller Hut may still access the track and hut. Mount Cook Village serves as the main gateway to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, with several short walks and multi-day hikes beginning from the village. It is also a fantastic place to experience pristine night skies and enjoy activities such as boat tours and heli-hikes to the Tasman Glacier, as well as the popular Hooker Valley Track.
6
Stop 6
This is one of the best spots for scenic photography overlooking the Tasman Glacier. Enjoy an easy, one-hour walk to the viewpoint—don’t forget your camera. The glacier can be seen in the distance beyond a glacial lake, making it a highlight attraction and a perfect place to spend quality time while visiting Mount Cook.
7
Stop 7
Walking the track at dawn offers a breathtaking view of the first rays of sunlight spilling over the Southern Alps, including New Zealand’s highest peak, Aoraki/Mount Cook.
