Stop 1
Begin your adventure in the historic port town of Lyttelton, often called the “Gateway to Christchurch,” before travelling via the scenic Evans Pass for panoramic views over Lyttelton Harbour, Pegasus Bay, and the seaside suburb of Sumner. Enjoy a breathtaking drive along Summit Road to Godley Head, where your guided coastal walk begins.

Following an easy and well-maintained trail, you’ll explore dramatic clifftop landscapes, native vegetation, and sweeping ocean views across Banks Peninsula and the Pacific coastline. Along the route, discover the remarkable World War II military remnants at the Godley Head gun emplacements, one of New Zealand’s best-preserved coastal defence sites. Your guide will share stories of the area’s military and local history as you visit historic landmarks including Scott’s Cabin. Pause along the way for morning or afternoon tea in a truly unforgettable setting. Please take the shuttle bus to Lyttelton. It will stop at the Norwich Quay bus stop (opposite Independent Provedoring Co, no 20 Norwich Quay). There is only one bus stop on Norwich Quay. You will be collected by a white-branded car or minivan, and your guide will be wearing a branded uniform.
