Meeting at Gatto Rosso Restaurant facing the square we begin Galways Story. Stopping at some of Galways landmarks, taking in the greater story told by the buildings which surround it.

One of our most treasured Galwegians characters, storyteller, writer and poet. His statue containing more stories and curious history.

Quincentennial Fountain Far from a fountain now but once upon a time it did spout and sputter. The sculpture now remains linking us to our maritime past and the city’s establishment.

This relic of our opulent past and one of our powerful merchant families whom ran the city. Stands watching over the square, a curious piece of Galways recent and medieval past.

Stop 5
Williamsgate Street. Entering through to where the city's Great Gate once stood into Galway now pedestrianized area. Surrounded by a plethora of historical points to the more modern homes of colorful Galway Characters.

Dating back to the 14th century, Lynch's Castle is one of the finest examples of a medieval town castle in Ireland. From its stone work, carvings and structure we will delve into some of the most interesting history, lore and legend attached to the powerful Lynch family.

The memorial to the famous Lynch Legend which is surrounded in myth and lore. With a particularly curious story as to how it came to be and all the messy facts attached.

Stop 8
Founded in 1320, this is the largest medieval parish church in continuous use in Ireland. The church and grounds hold a treasure throve of history and stories to share. A beautiful part of the city of the city, with a vibrant market during the weekends.

Galway's beloved bookshop which has been a part of the Galway fabric since it opened it doors in the late 80’s and later moved to its current premises in 1995. With over 100.00 books floor to roof the bookshop is not just a place to buy books but has also become a cultural hub for the community.

Once the townhouse to one of Galways most colouful characters, Richard "Humanity Dick" Martin, today a must visit pub and hub for the artistic community of Galway and locals alike. Plus the best tips and recommendations for food, drink and shopping.

An oasis of calm running parallel to the busy Quay Street passing some hidden gems and wonderful history.

At the end of Quay street we have Blakes Castle, once a stronghold serving as the maritime gate to the city with many other functions since, nestled in the Latin Quarter.

Once a place where fish were sold with many more stories beneath its cobblestones, as well as a popular spot today for locals to enjoy the rare glimpses of sunshine.

Stop 14
The last remaining part of the city wall, a hub for the ships and sailors with some fascinating history attached to its stone. In the area is also the museum, with the long walk just beyond tracing where the River Corrib meets the sea.
