Stop 1

We stop at Tokonyan, the giant beckoning cat that welcomes visitors to the town. Tokoname is famous for producing thousands of maneki-neko (lucky cats), and as you walk through the town you will encounter countless statues with playful and varied expressions. It is a delightful spot for photos and a fun introduction to Tokoname’s character.

Stop 2

You can enjoy a Maneki-neko painting experience(optional). The base maneki-neko figures are currently in production, so if you would like to add this option, please contact us in advance

Stop 3

The Takita Family Residence, once the home of a prosperous shipping agent in the Edo period. This beautifully preserved merchant house showcases traditional Japanese architecture and the lifestyle of a wealthy coastal family. Walking through its tatami rooms and wooden interiors, you step back in time and gain a deeper understanding of Tokoname’s past beyond pottery.

Stop 4

Tokoname Pottery Footpath is the highlight of the town. This scenic trail winds past old kilns, pottery walls, and artisan shops, with everyday ceramic objects embedded into the streetscape. As you stroll through narrow lanes, you will discover open-air art installations and feel the blend of history and creativity that makes Tokoname unique. The footpath is both a cultural journey and a photographer’s dream.

Stop 5

a fascinating cultural complex dedicated to ceramics and design. Through engaging exhibitions and beautifully curated spaces, you will discover how Tokoname’s long pottery tradition connects to modern craftsmanship and daily life. The museum offers an inspiring introduction to the region’s ceramic heritage.
