4 hr Kayak Tour around Saysutshun/NewCastle Island in Nanaimo, BC
Overview
Sea kayaking is a great way to explore the outdoors. Not only are you closer to smaller and larger wildlife but you also experience the beauty and grandness of the coastline from a fascinating different angle.
Sea kayaking is for everybody; young and old, beginner and more experienced paddler. We use locally-made sea kayaks known for comfort and stability. You can paddle on your own or help each other by taking a tandem sea kayak; we can even place a seat in the centre hatch for the smaller children.
Don't forget your camera! Enjoy the beauty and wildness of the Salish Sea from your kayak and glide along amazing rock formations, trees and wildlife. Sea stars, crabs and anemones can be seen underneath your boat; seals and eagles are nearby. Have a break on a beach and explore the rich biodiversity of the tidal zone.

Special Instructions
We launch from the Brechin Boat Ramp close to the Departure Bay ferry terminal. We meet at the boat ramp at 8:30 am.
Please let me know if you have any medical issues I need to be aware of; shoulder, neck, back, elbow, wrist injuries, allergies (bee stings or anything I might need an epi-pen for), fobia, in other words, anything that might impair your ability to kayak. You will need to sign a liability waiver before departure.
Please wear clothes that may get wet (no cotton), layer up and bring an extra layer for when the wind picks up including a rain coat on days less than 16°C (also excellent wind breaker). Wear shoes that can get wet and protect your feet (flip-flops not recommended). You can bring an extra set of dry clothes. I will bring dry-bags for your clothes and will be stored in the kayak compartments. I will bring small dry-bags for little stuff you want to bring like sunscreen, small camera, sun glasses. Bring a hat or cap as well and a liter of water per person minimum. You can put the bottles under the bungees of the deck. Please bring your own snacks for the tour.
Please park at the designated area as indicated on the location details; it is paid parking. The parking close to the boat ramp is designated for trailers only and you may get a fine.
Also let me know your height and jacket size (XL, L, M?) so I know what size of PFD (Personal Flotation Device, i.e., life jacket) I need to bring.
Please note that the tour may be adjusted or cancelled on short notice due to weather conditions.
