A panoramic view of Mount Ararat

Stop 2
Geghard Monastery, founded in the 4th century. During the visit you will learn about who lived in its secluded cells in the Middle Ages, why the monastery still impresses with its durability and how it is unique among ancient buildings. The importance of Geghard for the Christian world and why it was included in the UNESCO heritage list are explained. In addition, at the foot of the monastery you can taste traditional gata pastries and buy local sweets.

Stop 3
Garni Temple is a unique testimony of pagan traditions, which has preserved the imprint of antiquity. Here you can go back in time, learn who built this structure, how Christianity transformed the temple, erected in honor of the Sun God, and how it survived the devastating earthquake. The excursion gives an opportunity to appreciate the subtlety and beauty of the architectural solution of the temple.

Stop 4
The site features massive vertical basalt columns stretching up to 50 meters high. These hexagonal and pentagonal rocks were formed by cooling lava under high pressure, creating a perfectly symmetrical appearance that looks like the pipes of a giant church organ.

Stop 5
Lake Sevan is a real gem of Armenia, affectionately called “our sea”. The picturesque mountain landscapes and the amazing history of the reservoir will not leave one indifferent. You will be told legends about its origin, traditions of catching the famous trout, as well as will visit Sevanavank Monastery, which offers a breathtaking view of the lake.
