Join our small group Northern Lights tour! In a small group with a max of 15 people we’ll take you to the spots with the clearest sky, take professional pictures and offer help on how to set up your own camera. Photos will be shared with you by email. If you need a tripod we also got it for you! To keep you warm during the tour we have thermal suits and warm boots. Later on, we're going to enjoy the cozy atmosphere around a bonfire, have sausages, warm drinks and cookies.

We offer a tour for a small group to enjoy togetherness and excitement while hunting for Northern Lights in the beautiful landscapes of the Altafjord. We arrange organized guided tours since 2007 and have the knowledge about how to find the Northern Lights if the conditions are there. On our tours you normally will have 80-90 % chance of seeing this spectacular view. Each tour is different, as we focus on finding the optimal place with the greatest chance of seeing the lights. We therefore sometimes have to drive quite far to find them, while sometimes we find them in the surrounding area. Necessary driving distance decide whether we establish a camp with a fire, or whether we serve hot chocolate and snacks at one of our short stops. While enjoying the great outdoors, we will share with you local stories about Norwegian way of living, local history from the Stone Age, Sami culture, reindeer-herding, 2nd World War and the modern society in Alta. We are normally back just over midnight.

After we pick you up from your hotel in Kiruna, we will start to chase the northern lights that depends on each night according to the weather conditions. We can drive to Abisko, Kiruna’s boreal forest or wherever we can find clear sky to see Aurora Borealis. Lights of Vikings have a really high success rate in finding clear sky which is one of the most important criteria to see the Northern Lights. Our concept is famous for driving long distances if necessary! Wherever we go during the tour, we will tell you many stories about the northern lights and Vikings. After finding clear sky, we’ll admire the northern lights and we will take pictures which we’ll send to you within 3 days after the tour. If you bring your own camera, we will help you set it up to get the best shots. As the northern lights dance in the sky we will serve hot drinks and make a camp fire for you to keep warm. After the northern lights tour, we will drive you back to Kiruna.

It’s a long way up to the Arctic Circle, so increase your chances of seeing the Northern Lights by joining our tour! We carefully analyse the weather conditions before each tour to predict the best spots for the Northern Lights show, we provide all the necessary equipment and food. We pick you up from your hotel in the evening and together we go in search of the Northern Lights in a comfortable coach/mini bus. Named after the Roman goddess Aurora, these colourful lights swirl around the sky in a dramatic dance, leaving different patterns and shapes. We drive away from the electric street lights of Akureyri to more rural areas where there is a better chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Once we find the lights, we make sure you have enough time to take plenty of photographs. The Northern Lights have had a number of names throughout the history. The Greek´s called this phenomenon the “Dance of the Spirits”. In Europe, during the Middle Ages, these lights were commonly believed to be a sign from God. The old Icelandic folktale tell us about the angels dancing in heaven, their dresses were suppose to create these magnificent shapes of light in the sky.

Kiruna is located in an ideal position in Lapland to view the northern lights. During winter we have long dark nights and even 6 weeks without a sunrise! The first step to chasing the aurora is to get away from the city light pollution and that's exactly what we do on this tour. Our skilled guides will study the aurora and weather forecast to find the best locations based on their prior knowledge of the area, and then off we go! In our minivan, we will drive up to 125km away from the city if necessary to chase the aurora out in the arctic wilderness. There are many different locations we can visit depending on the forecast, one of which is the beautiful Abisko National Park area. Of course, it is up to mother nature where the chase will take us, but our guides will do their best to help you search for this incredible natural phenomenon

From beginning of September to April the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in Northern Norway are great. The weather (cloud cover) and the geomagnetic prognosis determine where the road takes us on the given day. We will take you where the chances of clear skies are the greatest and the best locations for seeing the Northern Lights. We go all in to find the Northern lights by checking 25+ different spots. Some nights we have a late return to Bodo (like 2 am). Last seasons we have had a hit rate around 80 %. Before the trip starts we will advice on how the chances to see the lights are. We head out from town in a comfortable Mercedes 7 seater van (4WD) with panoramic sunroof.
